Health & Safety

Health & Safety is the most important factors to consider when running a cleaning company. We always follow health & safety legislation including displaying the necessary information on site (if it is not already displayed), making risk assessments and method statements. We give our cleaners ongoing training for health & safety and supply them with all protective clothing suitable for the job. Attachments are provided below from cleaning section of the HSE website which help easy reference for management and cleaners.

METHOD STATEMENT

A work method statement is always completed for any job. This will detail the work is to be completed. It will outline any hazards involved and include a step to step guide on how we will do the job safely. It will also detail what control methods should be put in to place to ensure the safety of anyone affected by the job being done.

RISK ASSESSMENTS

A risk assessment is very important to protect workers and our business as well as complying with the law. It helps to focus on potential risks in the workplace and helps put usually simple measures to make sure that accidents are avoided.

PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT (PPE)

BPM always provide staff with the appropriate PPE and ensure this is worn at all times when there is potential of any accidents.

CONTROL of SUBSTANCES HAZARDOUS to HEALTH (COSHH)
A lot of our cleaning methods have helped us eliminate the use of some hazardous chemicals and we have tried to streamline the chemicals that we do use. This has made following the guidelines of COSHH a lot easier for us compared to years ago. We will always follow COSHH guidelines and make sure that we minimise risk as much as possible. Management continuously check working practices with chemicals, safe storage, safety data sheets, PPE being worn by staff and address any potential problems that may arise.
